Steven Bliss
Director of Culture
Joined the Team in 2011

A native New Orleanian, Steven Bliss graduated from Jesuit High School and received a BA in Sociology from Louisiana State University. After LSU, he joined a national nonprofit called Playworks where he worked closely with public elementary schools across New Orleans to ensure that students engaged in healthy play-based activities everyday. Armed with a wealth of knowledge on youth engagement and an urge to make a bigger impact, Steven stepped away from the nonprofit world to become a founding member of Harriet Tubman Charter School in 2011.

During his time at Harriet Tubman, Steven served as a middle school science teacher, team leader, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Director of Culture. While at Tubman, Steven also graduated from the Relay Graduate School of Education. Stepping away from Tubman, Steven brought his experience to Bricolage Academy as the middle school Director of Culture and Community where he implemented new systems and policies to support teachers and students. Steven brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Mildred Osborne serving as our Director of Culture.
