Arion Smith is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for PreK through 2nd Grade. With a deep commitment to early childhood education, Arion leads the development and implementation of instructional strategies that support foundational learning and student success. Her work focuses on fostering high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum that empowers both educators and young learners.
A native New Orleanian, Arion graduated from Xavier University Preparatory High School and received a BA in Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans. After graduating from college, Arion joined Crescent City Schools in 2015 (Akili Academy). During her time at Crescent City Schools she has worked as a SpEd paraprofessional, 8th grade ELA teacher, 1st grade teacher, PreK teacher, Team Lead and Instructional Dean for Prek/Kindergarten. Arion received “Teacher of the Year” award in 2025 for outstanding achievement in the classroom. With a passion to encourage and coach students and teachers to reach their full potential, Arion believes that all kids can and will learn.
