Quinten Atkins is a proud New Orleans native, reared in the Hollygrove neighborhood, and a graduate of Paul L. Dunbar Elementary School and Warren Easton Fundamental Senior High School. Growing up in a family of educators, he learned early that education has the power to transform lives.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Southern University at New Orleans before completing two master’s degrees at Chicago State University: one in Higher Education Administration and another in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Adult Education. His educational career began at George Henry Corliss High School in Chicago Public Schools, where he discovered his passion for teaching and instructional leadership.
In 2016, Quinten returned home to New Orleans to join Crescent City Schools. What he initially believed would be a job became something much greater, a community of educators committed to preparing scholars for success beyond the classroom. Most recently, he served as a 7th Grade Math teacher and Middle School Team Leader at Mildred Osborne Charter School. On the 2025 LEAP, Mr. Atkins was able to grow 74% of his students by one or more performance bands. He also grew 78% of his students in the Bottom 25% to meet their LEAP growth goals. Today, he is honored to serve as the Middle School Director of Curriculum and Instruction, where he is committed to supporting teachers, strengthening instructional practices, and ensuring every scholar is equipped for success beyond middle school.
